Epic Release ©2011 Bill Werle Acrylic 16 x 20
I've been trying out a new style for an upcoming project. I have to admit it's been incredibly fun painting in a looser and bolder color style. The subject matter has been fun as well. The request was for music and wine subjects which are both fun yet challenging. I lean towards a more realistic style so overcoming the need to put in every little detail has been a stuggle.
I do read and study a lot on different techniques and one of the more common statements I see in painting is less is more. I took that to heart with this series and made a conscious effort to only paint what's necessary. THe compositions are also simple in attempt to focus the attention on the subject but in the next week or so I'm going to increase the complexity a bit and add more instruments, people, etc...
The side benefit to this is the myriad of ideas that have flooded me for my wildlife painting. Forcing myself to paint subjects I've never painted before also forces you to learn new techniques and ways to paint subjects your familiar with. Growth is good. ;-)

Just Passing Through ©2011 Bill Werle Acrylic 16 x 20 There's a little stretch of backwater off the Spokane river where we walk most weekend mornings. It's always so serene and my soul breathes deeply in the peacefulness. Rumor has it Moose like to venture down out of the mountains and have been seen in this area. If I could be so lucky to witness one in "my" little backwater.
From now until Christmas I will include a free table easel handcrafted by reWineDesign with the purchase of a 16 x 20 or bigger painting. Made with wood reclaimed from the wine barrels of wineries in the Pacific Northwest, the easels make a very classy way to display your fine art collection. Full size easels are also available for purchase. Please shoot me an email, werle3@billwerlefineart.com, for more information.
